You do not need to have any paddling experience. The most important thing is to have, enthusiasm, a competitive spirit and the ability to work together as a team. If you are new to dragon boat racing, you are always welcome to join us on one of our training sessions - your first three sessions are free.

This allows us to spend a bit more time with you to take you through the paddling technique and safety briefing. We supply all the equipment you need to get started in dragon boat racing: boats, paddles, and personal floatation devices (PFDs), in addition to experienced steerers and coaches.

You will be paired up with an ACCA buddy who will look after you on and off the water. After your first session with ACCA you will receive a welcome pack with all the information about becoming an ACCA Member. At the end of the third session, please give us your feedback and let us know whether you want to join. We will be happy to get you signed up and officially part of the team!

Membership fees for the 2011/2012 season are $320 which covers you for the entire paddling season. Your ACCA Membership Fees include the following:

- Training and professional Dragon Boat Coaching (3 times a week in on season and once a week in the off season).
- DBNSW Fees (club membership, individual membership, insurance & boat hire).
- Race Entry Fees for all DBNSW regattas, including Chinese New Year Races & State Championships.
- Use of club equipment, including paddles.
- Subsidies for selected club social and sponsor events.
- Two ACCA training tops (for first time members only).

For first time members, you will need a Regatta Sport Club Race Top in order to compete at regattas. The cost of this will be subsidised by the club and will cost you an additional $40 on top of the membership fees.
