"Are you interested?
Are you a beginner but keen to learn?
Are you ready to join a team of winners?"
We are a non-profit amateur sports club that is open to anyone who wants to learn to paddle. You do not need to have any paddling experience. The important thing to have is a competitive spirit and the ability to work together as a team. Whether you are interested in recreational or competitive paddling, we offer something for everyone.
We supply all the equipment you need to get started in dragon boating: boats, paddles, and personal floatation devices (PFDs), in addition to experienced steerers and coaches.
Simply contact us, print, and fill the waiver forms before coming to practice for the first time.
When?
We train 3 times a week, with increased training sessions in the run up to major competitions. New paddlers are always welcome but we suggest that your first few sessions be on a Sunday. This allows us to spend a bit more time with you to take you through the paddling technique and safety briefing. Please contact us and let us know if you'd like to come down to give it a try.
We're on the water:
- Tuesday & Thursday from 6:30pm, onwards.
- Sunday from 9:00am, onwards
* Practise times may be subject to change. Newcomers, please rsvp to confirm date & time.
Although teams may put in 1-1/2 to 2 hrs of paddling, an hour is the average time of most social practices.
Where?
We train on Blackwattle Bay, Glebe. Entrance to the training venue is: 1 Bank Street, Pyrmont (underneath the eastern end of the Anzac Bridge, click here for a map). If driving, follow the signs to the Fish Markets but instead of turning into the Fish Markets, keep driving straight until you see a gate to the non-paved area under the bridge pylon (normally open during training sessions).
