It's official, the countdown has begun. The Ryde Aquatic Festival dragon boat race is on!
Yes, even though we do not have sufficient numbers registered for this event, 16 (including drummer and sweep) is usually the minimum requirements for any club to race, club President Suzy K has received the OK from the race organisers. This is great news!
This is first and foremost a community event.
It is a non-points race with the emphasis on everybody having a good time. A quick tip to all "newbies" - if you're worried about your performance on the day, don't be, there'll be a lot of other social paddlers giving it a go.
It's still not too late to register. We won't be racing until Sunday morning. So, if you're still interested in giving it a go, please register here. Alternatively, we won't be upset if you just turn up on the day. We actively encourage everyone to bring along friends and family. Let's get out there and have some fun.
Suzy K has asked that all ACCA paddlers be there no later than 07:45am. Map here!
- Don't forget to bring race uniforms. If you don't have one, come along in board shorts and we will provide you with a racing top.
- Bring along a change of clothing, a hat and a towel.
- Bring along sunscreen as we don't want you getting burnt.
- Bring a picnic mat or rug to sit on.
- Bring along plenty of liquids, lunch and food munch on.
- Eat lots of carbohydrates the night before to provide your body with all the energy it needs for race day.
- And don't forget to drink plenty of fluids on the day!
Let's go out there and be the best that we can be.
Fire Up ACCA!
Hope to see you there!
