Karma Me Up! - 2006/12/30 15:10 What is Karma?
Karma is a point system that is designed to show how much positive effect you have on the ACCA forum community! It is tied into your post count and allows a person to award and be awarded points for good forum postings.

The karma points are listed on the left side of every member post, under their Member ID, Title and Posts.

Look for the following two clickable buttons

Giving someone a "thumbs up" is saying that you like their karma. Meaning -- You either agree with what they are saying for the most part, or really respect them as a fellow poster, even if you may not always agree with their opinion. Giving someone a "thumbs down," is saying just the opposite.

So the goal for everyone would be to get ever increasing numbers of karma. Anyone who is logged in can increase or decrease someone else's karma. But you have to wait 60 minutes to make adjustments to a second person's karma.

So, make use of this function and begin voting with your mouse.

Re:Karma Me Up! - 2007/01/05 12:12 By the way, being moderated 'Funny' doesn't help your karma. You have to be smart, not just a smart-ass.

Who would I be talking to here

Tips for Improving Your Karma:

  • Post Intelligently: Interesting, insightful, thought provoking comments are rated higher on a fairly consistent basis.

  • Post Calmly: Nobody likes a flame war. In fact, more times than not the flamer gets burned much more than their target. "Flame Bait" is hit quickly and consistently with negative karma.

  • If You Can't Be Deep, Be Funny: If you don't have something truly developing to the topic, some humour is welcome. Humour is lacking in our lives and will continue to be promoted. Remember though, what rips your sides out may be completely inane to somebody else.

  • Post Often: If you only post once a month you can expect your karma to remain low. Also, lively discussion in an open forum is what makes our website more interesting to our readers.

  • Stay On Topic: Off topic posts are often slapped with negative karma.

  • Be Original: Avoid being redundant and just repeating what has already been said.

  • Read It Before You Post: Does it say what you really want it to say? Check your own spelling and grammar.

  • Read our forums Regularly: You can't possibly contribute to the discussion if you're not in the room. Come to the party and play.
