Login - timed out! ... annoying - 2006/05/19 22:33 hey friendly webmasters..

I think because I take too long to think what I want to write or something.. I am logged in.. go to submit.. find out i've been logged out. nothing is saved.

really off putting in submitting things on the website.

can it be changed?

thanks

Re:Login - timed out! ... annoying - 2006/05/20 02:09 I find it annoying myself sometimes, that's why I usually make a copy of the text that I am about to submit.

Anyways, the timeout setting before was 15min.
I have extended this to 30min. Hope this would be enough time.

If you think this is too short, I'm more than happy to extend it again.

Re:Login - timed out! - thanks - 2006/05/20 14:31 hey roy

thanks for that. is it a security reason why we need to have it logged off after X time?

and when does it log you off?... if you haven't clicked a button like submit or a link within 15 mins (or now half an hour). I thought that because I'm typing text, it would recognise that the window is still active rather than logging you off.

Can you have it set to an hour before it logs you off?

Thanks
Suzy

Re:Login - timed out! - No worries - 2006/05/21 00:14 At the moment, it is not so much as a security reason as there really isn't anything that sensitive to the public.

Basically the website tracks whether you have clicked any links in the past half hour. If you didn't, then it will automatically log you off.

Typing text doesn't count as you thought it would.

So yeah. Can get quite annoying, you have to type really fast to beat that 15min mark. Well now, it is set to 1 hour. So you've got all the time in the world to post something
